I picked up two Lorby USB chargers during my last trip to Ikea. They seemed to be especially workshop-friendly, and who can’t use more USB chargers?
The Lorby can be mounted in several different ways. First, it’s magnetic! In the photo above, it’s attached to a steel Milwaukee Tool mobile workbench.
There are keyholes on the back, which you can use to hang it off of small screws. There’s also an attachable clip, that fastens it pretty securely to boards and worktops 3/8″ to 1″ thick. Lastly, it also comes with pre-cut double sided tape.
Yep, it’s pretty versatile.
The Ikea Lorby charger has 3 USB ports. Max output per port is 2.4A, and max output per charger is 3.4A. Ikea says that it offers built-in over-current protection, as well as short-circuit protection and overheating protection. It auto-detects attached devices, and adjusts the power output accordingly.
The Lorby measures 4″ long x 1″ tall x 1″ wide. Its power cord measures 6′ 3″, and plugs into the bottom of the device.

I was genuinely excited to buy the Lorby when I first saw it at my nearest Ikea store. Right now, it’s mounted on a steel wall cabinet. I bought two, and the other will likely go on the side of a tool storage rolling cabinet that doesn’t have a built-in power strip.
The Lorby is available in different colors – white, black, yellow, and red.
The biggest reason to buy something like this over an Anker product or other traditional USB charger brand, is that it offers different – and very useful – mounting options. That’s what sold me on it. Right now I’m only using the magnetic mounting option, but I might clip one to the bottom of a shelf. Because it comes with a spring clamp, you can do that, and easily too.
So far, I’m liking my Lorby USB chargers. They appear to be well-made, and they’re every bit as versatile as I had anticipated. $13 wasn’t a very large investment either.
